DESCRIPTION: Non-profit organizations should have a variety of funding sources, particularly in challenging financial times. This workshop will discuss these various types; giving special attention to how development directors working alone or with only 1 or 2 staff can juggle all of these simultaneously.

DESCRIPTION: In this introductory workshop, participants learn how to design a board that will help their organization achieve their missions. Participants will also learn the legal and “functional” duties and responsibilities of a board of directors and how to protect themselves from legal liability

LOGIC MODELS & THEIR USES

DESCRIPTION: Logic models are tables, charts or narratives that help you demonstrate a link between your resources, your program activities and your results—especially outcomes oriented results. This workshop will help one understand the various uses and parts of a logic model as well as work with the participant in designing a simplified model for its agency or program.

RAISING BIG BUCKS WITH A SMALL STAFF (SESSION B – CHURCHES & START-UPS)
PRESENTER: Paula Paris, Deputy Director, JFY Networks
DESCRIPTION: This workshop will focus on: a) assessing and building fundraising capacity, and b) learning practical effective techniques for soliciting funds from individuals, groups and institutions (e.g. foundations). It is expected that attendees will commit to selecting a strategy, or set of strategies to begin immediately after the workshop.
